Dim Cave

A stalactite cave high above the Dim valley

Dim Cave (Dim Mağarası) lies on the slope of Cebel-i Reis mountain, about 11 km east of Alanya and more than 200 m above sea level. Known to locals for generations and opened to visitors in 1998, it is among the most visited show caves in Turkey.

A walkway of around 360 m leads through chambers hung with stalactites and thick with stalagmites and columns, ending at a small underground lake. The air stays cool and damp all year — a pleasant shock in July.

Top things to do: Dim Cave

Follow the walkway to the lake

The one-way route takes 20–30 minutes at an easy pace. There are stairs in both directions, and the final descent to the lake is the steepest part.

Take in the terrace view

The café terrace outside the entrance looks straight down the Dim valley to the sea — one of the best panoramas around Alanya.

Combine it with the river

Cave first, lunch on the Dim River afterwards: the order most tours follow.

How to get to Dim Cave

  • By car, turn inland from the D400 at Kestel and follow the brown signs for Dim Mağarası up a steep, winding road; allow 25–30 minutes from Alanya.
  • There is no convenient public transport to the cave door; a taxi or a tour is simplest.
  • The 3-in-1 tours that visit Sapadere, the Dim River and Dim Cave are listed on our best tours page.

Insider tips

  • The cave has its own entrance fee; some tours include it and some do not.
  • Bring a light layer if you feel the cold, and wear shoes with grip.
  • There are a good many steps, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs.
  • Photography is allowed; avoid flash out of courtesy to other visitors.
