Why Sapadere?

Ten degrees cooler than the beach

Sapadere Canyon is a slot cut by a mountain stream through the limestone of the Taurus, about 45 km from Alanya. A 750 m walkway fixed to the cliff leads past green rock pools to a waterfall — an easy, level walk that almost anyone can do.

It is the most popular inland excursion on this stretch of the Turkish Riviera, usually combined with lunch on a floating platform on the Dim River and a visit to Dim Cave. Go with a jeep convoy, on a coach tour or under your own steam: this site explains all three.

Sapadere Canyon FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Where is Sapadere Canyon?

In the Taurus Mountains of Alanya district, Antalya province, about 45 km from central Alanya. You turn inland from the coast road at Demirtaş. See getting there.

How much is the entrance fee?

Local sources quote around 225 TL for adults in 2026, with a cheaper student ticket and free entry for young children. Turkish attraction prices change often, so treat this as a guide and bring cash in lira.

Is Sapadere Canyon open?

Yes. It reopened in July 2025 after a rockfall closure, with protective steel tunnels added to the walkway. It is open daily; short weather closures are possible.

Can you swim there?

Yes, in the natural pool near the waterfall — but the water is very cold all year. More in the travel guide.

Do I need a tour?

No, but it is the simplest way. Public transport is thin and the mountain road is winding. Compare the best Sapadere tours.

How long should I allow?

About 1–1.5 hours at the canyon; a full day trip with the Dim River and Dim Cave lasts 7–8 hours.
