Where to stay for Sapadere Canyon

Three coastal bases, each a little closer to the canyon road than the last.

There is no real hotel scene at Sapadere — a few simple pensions in the valley aside, everyone stays on the coast and visits for the day. The question is which part of the coast.

Alanya town has the castle, the harbour, Cleopatra Beach and the widest choice of restaurants. Mahmutlar, 12 km east, is a long-stay resort of apartments and mid-range hotels with a big expat community. Kargıcak, a little further, is quieter, with large resorts on the hillside. Every kilometre east shortens the drive to the Sapadere turn-off at Demirtaş. Guest scores below are Trip.com’s, out of 5, as checked in October 2026; tap through for live rates.

  • Many resorts here are all-inclusive. If you plan several day trips, bed and breakfast or half board can be better value.

Accommodation FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can I stay at Sapadere Canyon itself?

Only in a handful of simple village pensions and bungalows. Almost all visitors stay on the coast.

Which area is closest to the canyon?

Of the main resorts, Kargıcak, followed by Mahmutlar. Demirtaş, at the turn-off, is closer still but has few hotels.

Is Mahmutlar a good base?

Yes, if you value price and space over old-town atmosphere. Buses run into Alanya all day.

Do I need a car?

No. Tours pick up from hotels, and coastal buses are frequent. A car simply gives you freedom over timing.
